I am glad you have found your way to visit this specialty blog – one that is dedicated to the discussion of the vast disciplines of the forensic sciences. This public forum intends to be a conduit for exchanging information on many topics that will interest forensic science professionals, law practitioners and enforcers, and folks whose interest gets piqued when reading about this subject matter in the press or as seen on TV.

This opens the blog up to a wide area of discussion: current investigations and events, progress in forensic science technology and techniques, crime lab backlogs and breakthroughs, new trends in education and training, and many other areas of pertinence. It will be my great pleasure to host this forum and meet (virtually) many folks with similar interests as mine.

Let me begin by setting one simple ground rule. Since this blog is housed at the University of Florida, it is imperative that the discussions here remain civil, academic and/or professional, and related to the subject matter at hand. Everyone is welcome to post their thoughts and contribute to this forum, and I encourage you to participate and help create a new social scene in forensic science that goes beyond e-mail list-servs and static websites.

Over the next few weeks, you will notice more content begin to appear on this blog. Plans are in the works to incorporate audio feeds, include related news pieces / RSS feeds, and to develop a section that highlights recent research breakthroughs. I am especially looking forward to delivering this content. Be patient, some good things are planned down the line! Welcome, have a look around, and feel free to send me an e-mail at nibya@ufl.edu or forensicscienceblog@gmail.com anytime.
